How to use this guide

If someone has pointed you here from social media, welcome. This page is a regional guide to wedding venues Victoria wide, put together by Dan from Spinning Disc Entertainment. Dan performs at approximately 100 weddings per year across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, and has worked at venues in every region listed below. Whether you are searching for wedding venues Melbourne or Victoria wedding locations further afield, the guides below cover every major region.

What makes each region different?

Victoria’s regions each have a distinct character when it comes to wedding venues Victoria couples are choosing right now. Wedding venues Melbourne and surrounds tend to suit couples who want a city-adjacent reception with great transport links, while regional wedding venues Victoria offers a more diverse range of styles and settings. The Yarra Valley feels lush and intimate, surrounded by vines and rolling hills. The Mornington Peninsula has a polished winery feel with stunning coastal backdrops. Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges are romantic and rustic, popular with couples who want a country escape without travelling too far from the city. The Surf Coast is relaxed and coastal, while Gippsland offers everything from lakeside properties to mountain farmhouses.

6 questions to ask before booking your wedding venue

How many guests are we inviting? Guest numbers should be one of your first filters when shortlisting venues. A room that fits 200 people will feel empty and cavernous with 50 guests, and venues often charge more per head when numbers are low relative to capacity. Aim for a venue where your guest count sits at roughly 70-90% of their maximum. A room that feels comfortably full creates a better atmosphere for everyone, and that atmosphere flows directly into the energy on the dance floor later in the night.

What style do we want? Victoria’s wedding venues span an enormous range of styles: beach and coastal, rustic barn, formal gardens, heritage manor, inner-city rooftop, winery, and properties with accommodation on site for guests who want to make a weekend of it. Get clear on the aesthetic you are drawn to before you start inspecting, otherwise it is easy to fall in love with a venue that does not actually match your vision once the styling is in place.

Cocktail style or seated meal? This is a bigger decision than it seems. Some venues are designed exclusively for cocktail receptions, others only offer seated meals, and many can do both. A cocktail reception tends to feel more social and relaxed, with guests moving freely between groups. A seated dinner is more structured and tends to suit longer evenings with speeches and formalities. Be clear on what you want before you inspect, because not every venue can accommodate both formats equally well.

Does the venue have sound restrictions? If a big dancefloor is central to your plans, this question could save you a lot of disappointment. Many Melbourne and Victorian venues operate under noise restrictions imposed by local councils or neighbouring properties, and some have sound limiters installed that cut the music automatically when a certain decibel level is reached. Before you sign anything, read our blog post on sound restrictions and questions to ask your venue so you know exactly what to look for and what to ask the venue coordinator.

Is there accommodation nearby for interstate or out-of-town guests?
If a significant number of your guests are travelling from interstate or regional areas, accommodation proximity is worth factoring into your venue decision. Venues with on-site accommodation are ideal as guests can stay the night and you can keep the party going longer without worrying about transport. If the venue does not have rooms on site, check what is within a short drive or taxi ride. A venue in a regional town with a good pub or motel nearby is often just as practical as one with rooms attached, and your guests will appreciate not having to organise complex transport home at the end of the night.

What does it actually cost, and what is included? Venue pricing varies enormously across Victoria. Some venues are fully inclusive: venue hire, food, beverages, and a coordinator all bundled together. Others provide the space and bar only, meaning you will need to arrange external catering, a food truck, or other suppliers separately. Neither model is better than the other, but you need to understand what is and is not included before you can compare venues fairly. Always ask for a full inclusions list alongside the per-head price.

Dan is a superb DJ and entertainer! He was great to work with, communicative, and really had a keen sense of what our style and vibe was – we had our wedding 5 months ago, and we STILL have so many guests rave about how amazing Dan was! We are so grateful for the fantastic atmosphere he provided, the amazing music, and how accommodating he was when we had a last minute change of plan for end of the night activities 🙂 We also booked the Party Pix Photobooth through Dan and Magenta was so so lovely operating the photobooth, keeping the vibes up, and helping us to print multiples of each photostrip! Guests also recieved digital copies, and so do we have digital copies of all the fun everyone had with it! We could not recommend Dan and Magenta more!

We hired DJ Dan for our wedding on the 11.04.26 and were very happy with the service provided. He provided music for both our ceremony and reception – he did an outstanding job choosing and mixing the music throughout the night! We had children at the event and he was able to adapt the music throughout the night to suit everyone of all ages. He was very engaging and was able to get people up dancing for hours! Highly recommend booking him for your next event 😊

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with DJ Dan and his team, Jay, the acoustic singer—what an incredible duo!DJ Dan was an outstanding MC. He kept everything running smoothly and made the entire reception feel seamless. One of the highlights was the scavenger game he recommended—it got everyone involved and was still being talked about long after the wedding. He also did a fantastic job choosing music during the quieter moments, creating the perfect atmosphere. Every request we made came to life exactly how we envisioned. What really stood out was how thoughtful and organised he was. Before the reception, he came over and had a quick discussion with us to walk through what would happen. Throughout the night, he continued to check in and keep us informed about what was coming next, which made us feel so comfortable and at ease.Jay was absolutely amazing. She followed all instructions perfectly, and her performance during our first dance was unforgettable. She learned a song especially for us and honestly sang it even better than the original—it completely blew us away. Although I couldn’t move as much due to my dress, hearing that song performed live with so much soul made the moment incredibly special. We are so grateful to both of them for working so well together and creating such a memorable experience. They were professional, talented, and affordable—everything you could hope for.We will definitely be hiring them again for future events and will be recommending them to all our friends and family. Truly a fantastic experience!
